Why does China want Taiwan so badly?

China has been always vocal about capturing taiwan one day. Xi Jinping's wet dream is to capture the entire world and Taiwan is on the top of that list.

As we all know, China is not a big fan of boundaries and does not understand the meaning of NO!Their communist govt does not recognise Taiwan as an independent nation and they have indicated many times about invading this small island nation situated in the East China sea.

If we turn some pages of history, then we'll find that Taiwan was once ruled by the Qing Dynasty of China, but its control was surrendered to the Japanese in 1895. Although after the defeat of Japan in WW2, the Chinese took back control.

During this juggling of Taiwan from one party to another, China was struggling from a civil war.It was the Nationalists vs the Communists! This ended in 1949The then nationalist leader Chiang Kai-shek fled to taiwan and formed an unofficial govt in Taipei

He ruled there till 1975.This was a brief history of a much larger conflict that’s disturbing the peace of the entire world! So how does it affect India?

Our relations with China are at their lowest point right now although India also believes in the “One China” policy, and we do not have any official relations with Taiwan! But this does not stop us from doing business with this small nation.

Taiwan is home to the world’s most valued chip making company i.e Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).This company controls 54% of the global semiconductor market share so you can imagine how much we rely on this country for our electronic goods.

The major automobile companies of India like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Kia India are already facing a huge chip shortage. This is hindering their growth prospects.

Now, if a war breaks out between the two countries, this situation will deteriorate even further and the entire electronic supply chain will get affected. We saw something similar during covid when the prices of computers and its related accessories were touching the sky!

The world is still figuring out how to deal with the Russia-Ukraine war and now if China decides to get it’s hands dirty, it will be a disaster for global economy.

Are we ready for this?

Frankly, No.We are not.

This sudden change in geopolitics is not easy to adopt, especially for countries like us who have always maintained a neutral stance in every situation.

We cannot afford a China who’s getting stronger every day, with the American influence dying globally. The circumstances are perfect for the dragon to come out and expand itself.

Let’s keep an eye on the dragon 👁️
